I had posted this before and can't remember the thread I
was on. The person who replied had me go to
inetexplorer.org. This had a lot of useful information.
Unfortunately, I cannot download anything other than
Windows updates. I had StopZilla program installed but it
is now uninstalled and I still am having problems. I
cannot even download attachments to emails. I think the
setup I have is wrong for IE6. But I cannot find the
error. Thanks so much in advance for anyone's help.

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
The key does not normally exist.

Repair IE6 might be a suggestion that would be in order. Since you didn't
state which Operating System you have, you'll use the instructions which
apply to your situation. Windows98 is simple. Go to Add/Remove
programs>Microsoft Internet explorer SP-1 >click add/remove> select repair.
Other systems are a bit more involved to do the repair.

I have tried the solutions listed below and still cannot
download anything from the internet. I cannot even
download a new copy of IE6. Should I try to uninstall it
and try again?
