Hi I have a download problem with my computer running Windows XP with SP2,
If I try to download some internet pages using either Internet Explorer
version 6 or 7 or Deepnet Explorer the pages arrive corrupted, but if I use
Firefox they appear correct.
I hope someone could help with this problem.

photog,

Check the headers. There are no References: headers.
Hence it *is* a new thread. OE users may see it grouped with another
older thread with the identical Subject: text. Users of other newsreaders
may not see that grouping. Users of the web interface to newsgroups,
which the OP is using, would only see the old thread by searching for
the Subject: text as a quoted string:

http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...&pt=&catlist=&dglist=&ptlist=&exp=&sloc=en-us

Thanks Robert. I missed the fact that there was no RE in the title of
Grannie's post. I note that Tony made two nearly identical posts with in the
space of 1 minute and the older post is grouped in the order that a reply
would be except that the older post is also missing the references in the
title and in the header. I attribute the improper grouping of these messages
as a fault with OE.

It's not a bug but a feature. E.g. it allows posters to reply to a thread
without having access to the thread (e.g. re-send revisions of replies).
The problem with it is that when Subjects are vague or generic then
totally unrelated posts unfortunately get grouped together. When that
happens I am just as likely to blame the poster for using an unsatisfactory
Subject as I am to blame OE for providing a sometimes useful feature.
