Trying to download Adobe Acrobat after upgrading to XP. When trying to save
the application I receive the message:

Cannot write to file C:\Program Files. The file may be locked or you do not
have sufficient access rights. Plese make sure you have write access to this
file.

Since I am the only person using this computer and am therefore the
administrator this message does not make sense to me. What do I need to do?

That's not necessarily true. You MAY be the only user but you might NOT have
Administrator rights.
Go to Start-Control Panel-User Accounts and check that it says that your
user is a Computer Administrator.

Thanks for the thought, but I have checked this and I am recorded as computer
administrator.

Don't save the executable direct to C:\Program Files. Save it to (say) your
desktop. Then double-click to install.

I have tried saving to desktop and unfortunately get the same message about
not having access

Can you save it to My Documents? Can you save it ANYWHERE? Can you save
anything (for example a Word document)?

Normal SAVE functions work OK, so I am still puzzled by this. However, I
have now downloaded the foxitreaader from foxitsoftware.com so can at least
read pdf documents.
