I'm trying to help a friend get rid of the Sasser virus off his Win2000
machine.
Since Sasser reboots the machine every few minutes, we can't stay on-line
long enough to get all the files & patches. We've downloaded the 589K
file but everytime we start the install (about 39 Meg) the system re-boots
after about 5 minutes.

Looking for a way to download all those files & patches via another machine?

First go to Start | Run and type shutdown -a

That will stop it from shutting down.

Tried the shutdown -a but it reports that the "shutdown" file can not be
found.

That appears to be the right place, but since I'm using another machine
which is running Windows XP, it wants to customize my catalog for XP
and I didn't see any way to specify I wanted Windows 2000 files.

Ahhhh... I was in the wrong section, "Personalize Windows Update" and
should have been in the "Windows Update Catalog". Thanks.
What I was really looking to download was the Service Pack 4. However,
I guess that if I install all the Updates that will in essence be the same
as
installing SP4?

Odd... I run Xp where I am now, and when I click on the
catalog on the left it opens a screen on the right with

FIND UPDATES FOR MICROSOFT WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS

Where I may select ANY flavor of windows

That appears to be the right place, but since I'm using another machine
