Hi,
Click this and it will add the MS server to OE.
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.excel.programming

Click the "News groups" button.
Then you can download the newsgroups on the server and choose the ones you
want to subscribe to.

There are many messages posted by some one and are usefull to me. So I
would like to save the same to my pc just like mail messages. Once I
have accessed this group and read many posts but now I dont
know/remember how I have done that. I would like to read posts thru
the outlook so that whenever any post is imp or useful, I can save the
same with outlook express. I am using outlook express 5.
Hope this is now clear.
Regards,
Shetty

Hi Krishnadas ,
]Assuming that Shetty's reply helps to describe what you want...

You can move or copy postings to another folder, you can create a folder
in your Outlook Express Local Folders where you won't lose them, you
could even move them to another folder on your system outside of
Outlook Express Within OE would be better because you will see
the dates, subject, author and threading.

You can select a bunch of postings with the help of the Ctrl and Shift keys
and then hold the ctrl key and drag them to the other folder to copy them
To be less ambiguous you can right click and chose "Copy to Folder"
With OE 6.0 you can delete the postings from the original folder. If you
use the Shift+Del keys you can delete without moving anything to the
Deleted file.

Sorry I got the postings mixed up because I only looked at one
reply instead of the entire thread but it was Shetty's question
all along, hope I at least got the answer correct.

It is unfortunate that you can't simply mark a thread as watched
and have it not get deleted when synchronizing to a server but
that is the way OE works so copying or moving to another folder
is the only way

Hi Jaf,
This is what I want. But unfortunatly I am still getting the same
error (Unable to connect to the server. I have tried it at my home PC
and it works fine. I tried to replicate the same settings to my office
PC where I actually requires it but it didn't worked. All the other
applications like internet surfing and emails are working properly.
Also I can access the postings via wab browser but at the same time I
am getting error of unable to connect in the Outlook express.

Any more suggetions or tips?
Appreciatting your help,
Shetty

Hi David,
I have gone thru your both the posts. This is what I want to do but
not getting thru.

Hi,
MS has been having problems with the news servers for the last few weeks
because of the swen virus.

Try pinging or tracert the server. It could be an internet problem.
From a command window...

tracert msnews.microsoft.com

Hello,
Tracert results are not available. It gives request timed out.
It is possible. Being the company servers they may be blocking port
119. How to find it out. Is there any way to check it from user end?
or we can use any other port instead of 119?

Shetty

Maybe - go to a command prompt and type the following:

telnet msnews.microsoft.com 119

If you are able to establish a connection, then 119 is open. If not, I
would guess your admins don't allow you to use port 119.
