Download manager?

Which is the best internet download manager out there? One that hopefully
intergrates with IE and works on XP? I'm using one called Kontiki now, but
it's useless. the damn thing have trouble connecting to the servers, so the
downloads pauses every two minutes or so.

downloading speedup would be nice, but I'm mainly looking for something
that's reliable, and will allow resuming of downloads.

Download Managers are OK, but can sometimes cause file corruption. I use Getright - www.getright.com - but disable it for large downloads in case of any file corruption.

FlashGet does a superb job under XP Home and dial-up connection.

You might also take a look at

for a complete listing and reviews of all the currently available
freeware download managers.
 
I disable only for downloading MS files. Some large non-MS files that I have downloaded with Getright have been corrupted. This is only my own personal experience - with the size of the MS files that I sometimes download, I would rather not have to re-download them if they are corrupted.

what about the file corruption thing Will Denny mentioned though - are these
very common? I don't wanna have to redownload large programs like
OpenOffice or something using my dialup...

Hi!
I have used FlashGet as download manager for years and never had any
corruption problem at all. I download files very often (daily). I even
downloaded OpenOffice with FlashGet without any trouble.
