Download for KB957324

I have Windows Vista Business Edition with Microsoft Office 2007. When I run
Windows Update (or it is a scheduled run), the update KB957324 for 'Business
Contact Manager for Outlook 2007' does not install. I get Windows Update
Error 779. Has anyone got any ideas how to overcome this problem. I cannot
find any information on the internet so far that works.
 
having the exact same issue. vista ultimate x64 for os and full sql 08
instance of bcm
 
My issue when I install the full update is error 1913 coult not update the
ini file c:\windows\sysWOW64\mapisvc.inf i have checked permissions and they
are set to full for installer, not visable work around...please advise .

I too have tried downloading the actual update for "KB957324" and run that.
That also did not work because file c:\windows\system32\mapisvc.inf could not
be updated; and I too got the Error 1913.

I am also getting this exact same error and I have tried everything in the
"Windows Update on Vista - Error 779" article by "Nick" but it hasn't
helped. This includes giving full rights for my login to the downloaded
update file which seemed to work for Nick.

Has anyone had any luck getting around these problems?

Has anyone found a fix for this problem? I read that you have to have the
original install disk in the drive when updating. I tried it and that did
not work either! This really sux!

Several people always run into problems c:\windows
\system32\mapisvc.inf everytime there's a new version of revision of
Outlook. It's hard to localize strings in it properly. It requires
admin credentials to update it - try running Outlook as admin. The BCM
SP2 patch itself doesn't appear to touch that file.
 
Has anyone found a fix for this problem?  I read that you have to have the
original install disk in the drive when updating.  I tried it and that did
not work either!  This really sux!

Are you logged in as an administrator? Try right clicking the file, choose
Properties. Security tab. Edit... button. Add... button. Type "Everyone".
Click OK. Select "Everyone" and click the "Full control" Allow checkbox.
Then see if you can do anything with it.

It's probably not a great idea to leave the full control privileges on the
"Everyone" account so after you get things worked out remove the "Everyone"
from the list.
 
I was finally able to reset privileges on the file but doing so still didn't
resolve the issue. I'm going to do full a full uninstall using the
MS-provided tool then try reinstalling one last time. If that fails I'll just
leave SP2 off as it really doesn't do that much in the big picture.
