I am trying to start several downloads for windows 2000
update, but the download doesn't start. Does anybody know
how this can happen? I do see the download screen but it
doesn't run. Thanx!

I'm having the same problem with windows 2000 pro. I
click to install the 'critical updates' and download
screen comes up, but it doesn't download. I have two
other machines on the same lan (they are running windows
xp home version), and they download fine. It's not the
lan. I thought maybe it was some sort of secruity
problem, but can't find anything there. If anyone has a
solution, please email me at (e-mail address removed).

Thanks

OK,

Now I feel like an idiot. I think you are probably having
the same problem I had. On my Win2000 Pro machine, I had
forgotten that it AUTOMATICALY looks for the updates,
downloads them and awaits your click to install them. So,
when you go to download them...it won't, because they are
ALREADY downloaded. I bet this is your problem also. In
the system tray (by your clock) one of the icons will say
something like 'updates waiting to be installed'. Click
it, and poof.

I do have an excuse...I rarely start up the old Win2000
machine. It's just a game and file server. But, do I
feel like an idiot.

grr
