Microsoft now releases ISO-9660 CD image files that contain all the security
and critical updates that are released on the Microsoft Windows Update Web
site for Windows and for other Microsoft products. The ISO image files are
released at the same time as security and critical updates are released on
the Windows Update Web site.

That's good news! Thanks for posting.
Do you know, by any chance, if the CD automates the update process or
requires running all the applicable updates individually?

On a closer reading, I see this is only a few recent updates. I had
(wishfully thinking) initially misconstrued it as a post service pack
rollup. Now that would be valuable!

Q. Could a dialup company such as netzero take these update ISO Images and
burn them so they could send out to customers? Would this be legal?

You should contact them directly and ask them.
I'm not really sure if it's that usefull. It contains 2 updates only, though
in multitude of variants. But I can imagine it could be usefull for dial-up
company.

This might be of some help in deploying multiiple patches on dial-up sites:

Only just coded so may need a little polishing.

Basically you put the updates into a subfolder below the executable's
location named after the OS they're for (e.g. WIN_XP) and call the .exe
from a logon-script, startup-shortcut or schedule item. It offers to install
the patches, and if possible does so in the background. Each patch gets two
attempts per computer after which it's flagged as failed.

The process would have to run as an Admin-level user, at the moment I don't
know any way round this.
