The normal way to "uninstall" any operating system is to format
the hard drive and install a new OS of your choice.

However, if you performed an upgrade from Win98/Me, elected to
backup the old system files, and didn't convert the partition to NTFS,
then all you need do is boot into Safe Mode and Start > Control Panel
Add/Remove Programs. All of these conditions must be met for the
uninstall option to be available.

One cannot downgrade Windows XP to Windows ME.
You would have to reformat the drive and perform a
clean install of the old Windows ME operating system.

I would suggest keeping Windows XP and use the Classic Theme.

If Windows XP came with your PC and the manufacturer will not supply Windows
ME instead then you will have to purchase your own copy of Windows ME and
completely reinstall the machine.

Please Note : we retired Windows ME as a support product on December 31st
2003. So it no longer a supported product.

What issue are you having with Windows XP ? It is possible that you
"problems" are just due to some unfamiliarity of using a more advanced
operating system.

Don't do it!
Yes XP is different but it is the most stable Windows version to date.
Starting with V2. (yes 1987) and so different to Dos. (What is the old fool
babbling on about)
The change from 3.11 to 95 was difficult as well.
Don't mean this to sound cynical but sometimes change is good, honest.

As suggested classic view.
