Ian

Using Word 2002 SP-1 under XP Professional.

Because of the many extremely irritating, time-wasting idiosyncrasies of
Word 2002, I am seriously considering reverting to Word97.

I plan to use XP's Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs to remove Word
2002, then install Word97. Has anyone here actually done this?

I don't want to get snarled up because I am installing an earlier
version of Word -- I have visions of the registry becoming really
screwed up, for example.

I use Word 97, Word 2000 on a win98 and XP Pro.

I wouldn't do it. I'd try to figure out what my problem
was. In most cases the simple answer is the best answer.
Maybe you need to reinsall your Word, maybe you don't. Have
you tried Detect & Repair?

Hi Ian,

Perhaps you could expand on the problems you are encountering. You may
find the solution is simple. :-)

Otherwise you should be able to uninstall Word 2002 and install Word
97 without any difficulties.
