Hi,
A newly purchased machine has Vista on it, but isn't compatible with
an application I use on a regular basis. I want to install Windows
2000 Pro until this summer, when Vista will be supported with this
application.
I attempted an install, and several files failed to copy during the
first faze of installation. I managed to get it up and running, but
with a lot of glitches.
Did I miss a step? Any suggestions?
I appreciate any thoughts.

why dont you use VMWare Server or MS Virtual Server to install 2000 in a
virtual machine then you dont have to kill your Vista install

Steve, are you suggesting that it is not possible to install Win2K in a
separate partition and still keep Vista intact -- a dual-boot setup?

Probably a serial ATA drive controller.

(Note: If your drive controller is not natively supported then you'll want
to boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom. Then *F6* very early and very
important (at setup is inspecting your system) in the setup to prevent drive
controller detection, and select S to specify additional drivers. Then later
you'll be prompted to insert the manufacturer supplied Windows 2000 driver
for your drive controller in drive "A")
