down loading from camcorder

hi, i'm just getting started using windows movie maker and having problems
downloading video from my camcorder. everything seems to be plugged in ok.
and video starts to down load then the preview screen stops/goes blank, but
the counters seem to show video still down loading. when i go to veiw
downloaded clips it stops where the preveiw stopped (i can only get a a very
short cilp)

How long is this clip?
How large is your harddrive?
What file system do you have, fat32 or ntfs?
How much free space?
When did you last defragment?
Do you have anything else running, like internet, screensaver?

i initially tried down loading the whole tape 90 mins, it only accepted 2mins
30 secs,
hard drive space available around 118gb (so i don't thinks thats the problem)
fat 32
de fragged about a week ago
nothing else running

any suggestions?

what brand and model camcorder are you using.... and how is it connected to
your computer?

a FAT32 drive is limited to a max of 4 GB for a file.... you should get
about 20 minutes for each DV-AVI file.
