Double with Taskbar

Due to carelessness with mouse have managed to make the Taskbar double
width. The top one ( which is the default and first one) has the normal
"start button", "quick launch" and "systray" portions like the norm and
behaves in the normal manner. The "other" one is just plain with no "start
button", "quick launch" or "systray" and performs no functions at all. Have
never seen this in any version of Windows and at a loss as to the cure to
return the Desktop to its original appearance. Any and all help appreciated
and TIA !

Do you really want the task bar at the top of the desktop? If so, just drag
it there. If you're trying to get rid of the "double taskbar", just grab
the top edge of the _taskbar_ and drag it down to normal size.

Thanks Jen for offering your help, but that is not my problem. My problem
is how to REDUCE the size of the Taskbar to its normal size. As I mentioned
in my post, it is double the normal size and "appears" like "two" Taskbars
due to a careless mouse click. I really don't know, but I sorta think this
is going to require editing the Registry. Lets hope someone has come across
this problem before.

Thanks for the suggestion and help Ted, but again this is not my problem.
My problem is a "double width" Taskbar due to a clumsy mouse click. I am
familiar with moving or hiding the Taskbar with the mouse/click/hold method
but again, this is not the problem I am having. Thanks again for the
suggestion and help.

Right click on the taskbar, be sure there is no checkmark next to "Lock the
Taskbar". If not checked, move your cursor over the top edge of the bar,
until you see a double ended arrow that is black. When you get that, left
click, hold, and drag the taskbar down, over (if the bar is on the side on
your monitor), or up, to the correct height.

Right click inside of your toolbar and check that View is set to the
default setting of Small Icons. Large Icons will cause the taskbar to
appear "taller."

Another thing to try if the above is of no help: Reset your theme
selection. Increasing the size of some desktop components in Appearance>
Advanced can cause the effect you're seeing in your taskbar. Resetting
the them will restore the default values for those components.
