Double log off

I seem to have to log off twice before the system will actually log me off. Is there a setting that I can change to always require only one click? I have three XP machines, and only one seems to have this problem.

It seems I have to double log off too. I go to Start ---> Log Off ---> Log Off and it takes some of the task bar icons away (down by the time). Then I wait a while to see if it does anything and nothing does so I go through the process again and it logs off as normal. It never used to be this difficult before and I don't know why it would be so different now. I installed a program but I don't think there is anything significant about this program to make the computer have a hard time with Logging Off. I really would like to know what I can do. I have tried to get rid of some of the icons myself before Logging Off and that doesn't seem to help. It is such a hassle to Log Off now it is somewhat making me frustrated not knowing what to do about it. Please help somebody.

What app did you install? Can you uninstall it and see if it helps
anything? More details would help - os name, lan or not, etc etc..

I installed "Ad-Aware". I have Windows XP, and no LAN. Could it be something to do with Regedit?
