double graph overlay

Hello,

I'm trying to overlay 2 different chart types (xy scatter & bubble
over each other, both charts using the same data range.
how can I do this, or make 1 of the graphs transparent

Yep, that's one way to do it, and I have a rudimentary macro on this
page that can help:

Another way is to put your bubble data into the same XY chart, then use
custom markers instead of bubbles. You can draw circles of the
appropriate size and use them as markers:

To automate this, follow the procedure on Microsoft's site. It's not a
true bubble chart they're making, it's an XY chart with different oval
sizes:

"fill effects" from either the plot format or chart format menus, the
transparency menus under the Gradient tab are greyed out.

Format Plot Area: fill None
Format Chart Area: fill None
But wait, the chart still look opaque white!
Now click in an empty cell to deselect the chart. The chart should be
see-thru now.
