does anyone know how to stop the double messages I receive. Everytime I get
an email I get it twice

In Windows Mail go to Tools, Accounts. Make sure there isn't a duplicate
account.

Is it an IMAP or a POP3 account?

Having the same problem. Only 1 account, pop3. Anyone find the answer?

If you don't quote the message you're replying to, many of the frequent
responders in this newsgroup will have trouble finding it, and are
therefore unlikely to send a useful answer.

Getting two copies of email is often due to either you or the sender
having duplicate mail accounts entered under their email program;
if you have such a duplicate account, just remove one of these
accounts.

Just saying "Having the same problem" doesn't really cut it.
Most of the responders here read this newsgroup with a news
reader that makes accessing older posts time-consuming.
Each post should stand on its own.

If you are sure that you did not inadvertently create a duplicate
of that one POP account, then the next most likely cause is a
non-compatible antivirus. Which antivirus are you running?

I also get two emails for every one that is sent to me. It started when I
called blackberry since I wasn't getting all of my email. THey had me change
something and it left the mail on the server long enough for blackberry to
pick it up. Then I started getting "twofers'. I tried Gary V's suggestion,
but I have only 1 acct which is a pop3. I am running vista and this is really
getting frustrating. If anyone has any other suggestions I would appreciate
it. I should say I am not very technological so you might need to break it
down...thanks.

I too am having the problem with double email. I am using McAffee and if I
turn off email scannng, I continually get a message that says I am not fully
protected. This double email just started.

Go to Tools, Accounts, and make sure you don't have a duplicate account.
If there is only one mail account, delete it since it may be corrupted, restart
Windows Mail, then recreate the account.

If the problem continues, do a trial uninstall of McAfee. If that cures the
problem, install a more compatible antivirus, like the free one from
Microsoft:
