Double date numbers in view by month

Outlook 2003
Win XP

When viewing by month, the dates are numbered twice as shown in this jpg:

I've not been able to find a switch or option to change this.

Any hints or suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you!

tools, options, calendar options, Enable alternate calendar is checked.
Remove the check to remove the numbers.
