Whilst attempting to delete files in a folder all I get is a double up of the
original file without any deletion; I now have at least 9 copies of the
original file!!!
Please can someone help?

Hi beejay,

Give more details as in how are you deleting file (which APIs are you using?)
where do you see two copies of your file?

Jigar,
All that I did was to download photos into "My Pictures"folder in My Docs.
There were one or two to be deleted and when I right clicked on a photo and
deleted, the entire range of photos ( about 28 of them) were copied in the
same folder; each time I tried deleting the same thing occurred.
What are API's?

Hi beejay,

Oh ok.. So, you are using windows explorer to delete the files.. You posted
this question on microsoft.public.dotnet.general group where we generally
expect .NET programming related questions.. So, I thought you are using some
Application Programming Interface (API) to delete files..

Though, this question is not related to this newsgroup, Is this problem reproducible
everytime? You may want to run ProcMon (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx)
when you try to delete the files and see what is happening! Try posting this
question on Windows Platforms group.. may be they can help you better.

hi Jigar

Thanks for your help, but as an almost totally illiterate computer user, all
I want is to be able to delete without all the intricacies of technical
bull..........t which Microsoft heap on us.
If something says " delete" that is what I expect to happen, not 9 x double
up of the original!!!! cheers

Jigar, I have found the answer and is it so simple?........reduce the speed
of the mouse..........as simple as that.......why would that have an effect?
I discovered that I had the same problem 12 months ago, and accidentally came
on the answer yesterday
