double click twice

Whenever I try to connect to a windows 2000 server on my
network by going - start \ run \ servername I have to
double click run to open it. Once the connection is
established and I disconnect and reconnect it works fine.

Also I have a shared folder that I have a shortcut to on
my desktop and I have to double click that as well.

Any suggestions?

You have to double click RUN to launch the run dialog? Is that what you're
saying? It's hard to tell if that's what you mean since you're talking
about actions taken after pulling up the dialog that are irrelevant if
that's what you mean.

That's normal behavior, unless you have the single-click active desktop
nonsense enabled.

.

No, let redirect this question. If I am in explorer and I
type the \\server\sharname of my server the first time it
will just sit there for a long time. If I continue to try
it will eventually go through. I can browse all the other
servers on the lan fine. This one I cannot go to smoothly
sometimes.
And the shortcut on my desktop has a unc path to the
server and I have to double click it twice for it to go to
the server.
