Hi TC,
Open Registry Editor (Regedit.exe)
Goto this key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
Backup the branch to a .reg file.
Now, delete the key "ShellState".
Set the folder options again to double-click.
Restart Windows.

Ramesh:
Thanks for the reply. I was excited to think the problem
would be solved but it's not. The "remnber each folder"
view settings was already marked. I then deleted BagsMRU
and Bags and re-booted. Double-click was there. Thought
I was home free until I got home and re-booted. Back to
single-click. Any more ideas?
TC

Try this:
Control Panel>Folder Options and under the View tab make sure that 'Remember
each folder's view settings' is ticked.
If this does not work, open Regedit.exe and go to the following sub-folders:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\
BagMRU][HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\
Bags]
Right-click on each one (i.e. BagMRU and Bags) and select Delete to get rid
of both of them.
Reboot your PC and set up each of your folders as you like it. These
settings should now be saved and restored on the next reboot.

I am running Windows XP Pro on a new HP Pavilion laptop.
Every few times I re-start my computer, the double-click
setting (used to open an item) is automatically changed to
single-click and I have to go back in to Control
Panel>Appearances and Themes>Folder Options> to reset it.
Is this happening to anyone else?
