Hi,
I work for a number of schools, they are running server 2008 and xp clients,
we have locked the desktops down using group policy but have realised that if
the pupils double click the all programs on the start menu they can get to
explorer and browse the network and gain access to the c: drive even though
we have denied it.

Any help would be helpful

Thanks

Phil

It appears that GP was not configured properly. If you wish to pursue
that avenue:

http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.group_policy

Another one is -

Windows SteadyState
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/sharedaccess/whatis/userrestrictions.mspx
Start Menu restrictions let you remove items from the Start Menu. This means you can disable user
access to items such as:

* Shut Down
* Control Panel
* Command Prompt
* Windows Explorer

Drive restrictions determine which drives are visible to the user in My Computer. You can select the
option to hide all drives, show all drives, or select specific drives that you do not want exposed to
the user. These include printers or removable storage devices.
