I am working on a laptop which has the Folder Options set so that a
double-click of the left mouse button opens an application. However every
time I do this the application opens twice.

Any idea how I can prevent this?

Thanks,

Noel

Check your mouse properties in Control Panel.
Is it a particular app that opens twice, or anything you try to open?

S C Tom has given you some good suggestions.

If the problem happens with only one programme then the problem lies
with access to that programme. If it happens with more than programme I
suspect that the mouse settings do not suit you. I think this is
something I probably should investigate on my own computer as I tend to
open programmes twice. If you are impatient that could also contribute
to the problem.

The mouse setting to experiment with is Double-click Speed. Start,
Control Panel, Mouse, Mouse Buttons, Double-click Speed. You can adjust
the response time by dragging the slider towards Slow or Fast.

Hope this helps.

Laptop - yours or customer ?- might be on a single click operation .

Can Internet Explorer be opened by a single click? Mine does!

Is the shortcut on the desktop or in the quick launch toolbar? If on the
desktop, it would take a double-click. If it's in the quick launch toolbar
or in your programs listing, it only needs a single click.
