I am running Win2000Pro and PowerPoint 2000 SR-1. Unless my memory is
failing me, I recall even recently double-clicking on objects to open the
Format... dialog. Recently, that no longer works. I can right-click to get
the dropdown from which I can select Format... but when I double-click I
only get a chime sound. Am I confusing PowerPoint with some other software
or a different version, or has something changed requiring that I reset
something?

Thanks!

It works here thataway (PPT 2000 SR1, XP/Home)

What type of shape are you doubleclicking?

What happens if you start a new blank presentation, draw a rectangle and try
doubleclicking that.

Thanks! I was trying to double-click all sorts of things including text
boxes, shapes, lines, images. Don't know what changed, but it is working
now! Thank youy for replying.
