I am having a problem with mediaplayer9 and quicktime. Both show a
flickering checkerboard like screen over the videos being played on
them. The screen looks like there is squares of 16 white dots and clear
squares. The squares stay the same size if I resize the video. The
squares stay oriented in the same spot on the monitor if I move the
video around the screen. It does not show up if I play the video in
divx player, firehand ember, or windvd. In searching for an answer I
have seen it called dots and tic tac toe dots but I have not seen any
corrections for the problem.

My card does that If I overclock it, or increase the monitor refresh
frequency high (my monitor can accept greater frequencies than the card).

does it do it in games?

One option is to try underclocking the card to see if it has any
effect.

Is Media Player running on a 16 bit or a 32 bit screen? Swap to the
other and see what happens.

What Videocard.....

I reset the clock speed down to 70 that worked for my video play back
but not for my r/c flight simulator that programs said my graphics card
could not playback 3d graphics. It could last month.
