dots (appearing as underline) in table.

Using Word 2002. There are dots underneath some phrases and in some cases
from one end of the table to the other. What does this mean? When I checked
to see if it was hidden text, which is usually what is indicated, there was
no hidden text. I'm confused.
 
There are other sorts of dots (including actual dotted underlines that you
can apply using Format Font). For information, see Word's Help topic "What
do the underlines in my document mean?" Possibly you're seeing the purple
dots that indicate Smart Tags?
