DOS -> Windows database conversion problem

I'm hoping that someone may be able to suggest a piece of freeware to help
with a problem.

I have a Dbase-format file which was created using a DOS version. The data
includes a memo field and I have verified that all the memo data is OK.

I can import this data into a Windows-based database program, but when I do
so the DOS-text-format memo data is not visible and all I can see if a
single non-data character in this field in every record. I'm sure that this
is because the original memo data is in DOS text format.

Does anyone know of a freeware program which would import the data and
convert the memo data into Windows text format at the same time.

Thanks in advance,

Phil

Haven't tried it out, but DBFNavigator looks like it might do the job:
"DBFNavigator is a Windows utility for viewing and editing DBF files.

Opportunities of the program:
- versions from dBase up to Visual FoxPro are supported;
- may read may read memo fields dBase and FoxPro formats;
- are supported OEM and ANSI codings;
- sort;
- filter;
- search;
- a seal.

The program does not use external drivers for access to databases (for
example ODBC, BDE, MS Jet) additional libraries (dll, ocx). "

Or your windows-database dosn`t support memofields.MS-Access (I don`t
know which version knows no memo fileds.
Which windows database you use ?
