Is there any way to defrag a Windows2000Pro fat32 at the
dos level.

when I use defrag or norton speed disk it does not defrag
like it used to in 98. When it is finished there is still
data scattered all across the drive. the data is listed as
unmovable.

any help?

Hi Jay,

No, because there is no "DOS" in Windows 2000. (That's like asking, "How do
I boot up my Mac into DOS?")

You can use Windows 2000's Disk Defragmenter console to defragment drives,
but you cannot schedule it unless you get the AutoDefrag tool
(http://www.morphasys.com/autodefrag/).

Other solutions: Diskeeper, PerfectDisk, Norton Speed Disk, etc.

convert it to ntfs and try again
