I used to be using ME, until I had a new comp at work,
using XP.
But XP is strange,
it doesn't seem to navigate comfortably in DOS prompt,
where lots of directories have changed places.
Such as documents and settings and must get to users
directory under my name e.g. "abc def",
the space in between my name I cannot get across that with
common commands such as
' cd "abc def" ' /
' cd abc* '
' cd abcdef~1 '

I cannot get through, can someone help?

It has differed from ME, strange, I thought the newer
versions should be more intelligent but is seems to have
degraded.

The problem is, there is no DOS in XP. The Command Prompt is an emulator.
XP is more intelligent, more secure and a much better environment in which
to work. What you are doing is not, XP, it's a throwback to something being
eliminated. It's there for convenience and to allow for the possibility of
some who still need access to DOS apps. If you want full DOS functionality
then you must install DOS as XP won't satisfy.
