i have an Asus A7N8X-E Delux
with 1gb DC ram pc 2700
Ati Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb
Amd Althon XP 3000 333mhz

When i run doom 3 with shadows enabled, they look like crap. Blocky and
soforth....I have seen this with other games as well like Elete force II and
JediKnight Acadamy and so on.

I am running 4.8 drivers official DX9.0b and am running the game:
1024x768
AAx2
Med settings except for that.
It looks good and rns fine. But those damn shadows..

Any ideas???

hmmmm....could maybe be that there's only 128 meg on the card?
I'm running a ATI 9600 (in Ultimate mode) with 256 meg and the shadows
are amazing...especially the shadows created by swinging light fixtures.

Running with similar system (differences: MSI NF2, XP2800), shadows look fine. I am running with
exactly the same settings but with cat 4.6 and no AA.

yeah I know what you mean, you get square looking shadows on the models
face, even if the face looks round it casts straight lines. after a while I
decided shadows weren't worth it and turned them off. however for a horror
game shadows are imperative. maybe its a AA FA blending setting somewhere. I
don't have the game installed so I cant say.
