I want to have the Remote Desktop Connection client open up without a user name displayed. I have set the local security policy to not display the last user name and that works fine at the server, but when the client launches a connection, the last user name is filled in. HELP?!?

This is the client, not the server, yes? The "default.rdp" (hidden) file in the user's My Documents folder stores the last username & servers connected to when you open the Remote Desktop Client

Yes, but how do I keep a user name from showing up? I have tried to modify the default.rdp file, even tried to make it read-only, but nothing I do will display a blank 'User Name" field. I have noticed that the user name that appears in the window is actually the name of the currently logged on user of the desktop PC - not the last successfull login to the server. But, I would still like to be able to have this field display blank. Any ideas?

Can you tell us more about the scenario which reqires hiding the username?
As Patrick mentioned, the last used username is picked up from default.rdp
file in your My Documents folder. I don't think you can prevent the name
from being stored. If you would like to prevent showing "real" username used
for login, what you can do is enter a bogus username while connecting. Once
you get login failure on remote machine, you can correct your username
there. In this case, the default.rdp file would retain the bogus username
because thats what you attempted to connect with.
