Mark;
Boot to the Windows XP installed on D then any drivers installed are for the
D installation..

That is true only if the installation programming does not
specifically specify Drive C.

The OP is referring to a driver.

But if the OP is asking about software installation, that depends on how the
software is designed.

I know of driver files that only want to be installed to
Drive C. It caused a lot of problems with dual-boot systems
where there is one OS on Drive C and the other on Drive D.
And it was more trouble when it was discovered that the
manufacturer used the same file names for the 2 different
OS's.

WinRar is a program and not a driver.
And true, some programs do not give options.
But this is about drivers.

As far the modem, the download for the driver does not answer the question
since I do not even have that modem.
Exactly what location does the modem driver get installed?

You do not explain how you have installed the second XP.
Is it really a new installation or a copy from the first XP?
I think that is a copy because your second XP has the letter D. and because
it installs its drivers on C: : After a copy the second XP stores many
system data on C: (its original letter) and modify the first XP
configuration. Your two systems are mixed and destroy themselves.
To do a correct copy:
After copy of C: on D: boot in safe mode on the second XP (D:) and swap the
letters C and D in its registry. For that use the Knowledge Base article
Q223188 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q223188 (
regedit : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices, right click on volume,
chose rename for instance C to Z, D to C, Z to D, reboot). Then the new
system operates correctly.
Any other operation may corrupt both systems.
To copy XP see http://perso.numericable.fr/gjullien/copy_xp.htm

The Modem Driver is installed in
C:\Program Files\SAGEM\SAGEM F@st 800-840\Drivers

I think that is a copy

No it's not a copy
I have installed the first XP on the first driver
and after I have installed with the same CD of XP on the second Driver

If youy want to install on second HD, disconnect the first one, temporarily;
after
Windows is installed, reconnect it. You can choose the boot disk in the
BIOS.

From the name and location, it sounds like that is a program, possibly used
to install the driver.
What happens if you move the file "SAGEM" to a different location?
Does the modem still work?
Do not worry about any programs or other related features since those are
not driver related.
The proof is if you can connect, it is not the driver.
