this is annoying! i start an email and click on the TO ... field to
see the SELECT NAMES window appear. instead of seeing the entries
from my contacts, i have to go and click on the pull-down menu to
choose CONTACTS instead of the OUTLOOK ADDRESS BOOK. how can i avoid
that extra step?

thanks!

coming from eudora i have to say that outlook is far behind. there
you can choose autocomplete from nicknames and/or address book as you
type. i don't even have to take my fingers off the keyboard to send
an email!

From your description, I'm not sure if you have the 'missing contacts'
problem that often occurs when you make a new profile and use an old pst or
if the contacts folder needs to be added at the default one... both issues
are covered here: http://www.slipstick.com/emo/2004/up041014.htm#Q

The display is dependant on the version of outlook and display name in
contacts - Ol2002/2003 have a display name field you can edit. Otherwise,
it's mostly out of your control.
