I feel compelled to review and delete items in the Junk Mail and Deleted
Items folders because the folders list the uread messages in the navigation
tree. I would like to see an option to turn off the unread mail count for
these folders.
I think when I delete something it should not matter if I read it or not. I
think that is what the trash is for. Out of sight, ount of mind.
Junk mail still plagues my very existence, despite the very good job that
Outlook does at keeping it out of my Inbox, because that dang'd unread mail
count glares at me (in bold even) with it's every growing count. I'd like
Outlook to not remind that every spammer in the known universe has my email
address. Removing the unread message count from the Junk Mail folder would
allow me to continue working in ingnorant bliss while Outlook does the dirty
work behind the scenes. And, if every someone says, "Hey, did you get my
email?" I'll be able to search the Junk Mail folder for it because I have
not felt compelled to empty it every two minutes.
Of course, I realize that this post is more about my neuroses, than it is
about Outlook functionality. But I figured since the US Government is
hell-bent on protecting me from myself, that Microsoft might as well jump on
the bandwagon.
What say you?
