Don't want PPS shows to start automatically

Hi there.

I'm looking to see if there is a way to set up PowerPoint so it doesn't
automatically open a show but open the slides instead. Nowadays, lots of PPS
files are sent through the e-mail and I don't have anything against it, but
sometimes it really gets on my nerves that most of these e-mail attachments
are very lengthy and they display all the show letter by letter. I really
hate that. What I normally do is to save the file to the hard drive and then
launch PowerPoint followed by opening the previously saved file with the
File/Open command. That way I'm able to see the slides as a whole in
Powerpoint at the pace I want instead of letter by letter.

What I would like to know is if there is a way to modify the settings or
something like that in which I would just double click on the PPS file and
open the slides in Powerpoint instead of going through the whole show without
having to save the file, launch the program and pull the file from the
program.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!

1. Open Windows Explorer, go to Tools > File Types and locate and highlight
PPS.
2. Click on the Advanced button.
3. In the next dialog, click on New and add Open to the Actions list, set the
full path to your version of PowerPoint and click OK. For example, C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office 2003\OFFICE11\POWERPNT.EXE
4. Now select Open in the actions list and click on "Set Default".
5. You should see a change in "Show" - - changes from bold text to normal
text - - and "Open" - - changes from normal text to bold text. OK your way out
and test clicking on a PPS file.

Just re-save it or rename the file with the .ppt extension instead of .pps.
Alternatively, open the powerpoint program and then open the file
using the file, open comand or the folder icon.
