I have used Status to activate "Don't Publish" on most of my pages and
images that do not need to be published again, but when I make changes to
major pages and "Publish" the "Don't Publish" items get re-published to.
How can I stop this from happening?

Dan

If you are modifying items within a Shared Border or FP Include Pages, then
any page using these components, will be updated and republished.

Hi Thomas,

No shared boarders or include pages on my web. And I always check updated
pages only when publishing. Where does that leave me now?

Dan

I would open the remote site directly in FP, then publish to your local with
change page only selected, make sure no items are set to not be published,
then turn around and publish back with the same options, this should get
both sites in sync. Then you can set item to not be published.

Another option (if your host allows) is to place files that are large or
rarely change (document for downloading, PDF, images if working a database
application) into a subweb, then you only have to publish the subweb when
you have changes to those specific files.
