this is the worst peer to peer, self help or whatever you want to call it
site. anyone can post anyone can answer, which means you get bad responses,
rude people that are annyoed by those who know less, and plain incorrect
information. why cant a simple answer be responded to once -- correctly. i
keep reading in MS based forums how horrible and difficult Linux is. how
Linux (any distro) has real bad graphics and doesnt work and so on and on.
but i wonder how many have actaly tried Linux, and further more how many have
actually gone to a linux forum and asked for help. you actually get help,
quickly and accurately EVERYTIME. not out of control threads that say how
wrong one person is and then post with the same answer as the "wrong person".
there is no help and support here, i guess that is the difference between
buying something and appriciating someone elses work.
how many of you actually appriciate Microsoft? do you really thank Microsoft
for giving you an OS you can use? No, you dont. you look for sites lke this
so you can hold someone accountable for your own mistakes, just look at the
threads; and the responses for that matter. i found this site two weeks ago
and i am sorry i did. i honestly looked and searched and waited for someone
to answer and give good solid advice and it never came. to clarify, comparing
the volume of threads to the quality of responses it is pathetic.
no wonder Microsoft is hurting so bad.

good luck Microsoft

We are all working on using a Beta Program. None of us know a lot about it.
We all learn by making mistakes.
Two people have came back to me with possible solutions to my problem. So
far I have not had a cure. But if I do not find one it will not suffer for
it. If I did not enjoy doing this I would not try.
I have 7 functioning computers in my home. I started with a Commodore 64. I
battled Win98 for hours.I understand frustrations. But I do not take them
seriously enough to take it out on others.
If you feel you must, then leave and we will not miss you

Hello,

Sorry you had a bad experience.

Nobody's to blame, unfortunately - this is the nature of a peer-to-peer
discussion. It happens in linux circles as well, there's just a bit of a
different culture there (same stuff different bag).

This is just ridiculous.

These Windows forums contain plenty of peer-to-peer help that provide plenty
of information and guidance for all levels of support.

Yes, there are some rude people, but you know, they exist everywhere.

Yes, there is sometimes incorrect information, but that's the whole idea
behind peer-to-peer. If inaccurate information is provided, YOU WILL be
pointed out as providing improper information, and the correct information
will be posted by someone else.

To say that people don't provide help and are always rude here is very
insulting to those of us that DO provide help and go well out of our way to
help anyone who asks for it.

you are right Bill, i might have expressed my frustration a bit too
strongly. i did not mean that there is absolutely no help here nor did i mean
that nobody was willing to help. i come from the Linux side of things,
primarly Ubuntu and SLED, have for 4 years. prior to, i just used windows
like anyone esle. turn on computer and begin work. when i began looking into
Linux as a group i also began to educate my self about computers in general,
but always made it a point to learn Linux. the forums for Ubuntu are truely
amazing. ofcourse there are individuals like my self that get upset because
its cold outside and Vista and the rest of the world is working against them
(meant sarcasticaly). but overall if you look at the number of posts and
their responses is extremely different. for SLED the community is smaller but
nevertheless, still very good support. keep in mind that they too volunteer
and share information simply because they want to -- just like here. i dont
know why such difference, but i really did not like what i have found. yes i
know this is a free world and i can just piss off bacause there is no one
here that will miss me, but i just wanted to express, first my appology for
my original post as i should have used different wording. second, Microsoft
has incredible resources and i really do wish they would use them more
wisely. like putting more of an effort in this forum. Vista as we all know
has a bad rap, whether deserved or not i am not in a position to say. but not
having definitive answers from the "ONES" who know really hurts the overall
site. why are there no "sticky" threads that answer common questions, or a
wiki for "how tos" just something more than a chat room, thats all.

may be too late, but thanks for the replies to this and my other post. i am
sorry if i insulted you by generalizing my frustration; it was never my
intention.

thanks again and take care

I was wondering about "stickies" myself but thought it was due to not having
moderators. It would sure save on all the excessive posting. I've tried
using search for some of my questions and can't always find the information I
need. Then I post and suddenly it seems like there tons of similar posts.
