Don't know what I'm doing

Hello, My disk cleaner tool will not work. When you try to
use it, it comes up and just sits there. My Temporary
Internet folder has dissapeared. System Restore will not
work. I have tried running these in safe mode, but they
still wouldn't work. I did a dirty install of win xp, as I
was told to do by Dell Support, with no results. Have ran
virus scanner twice, and found no virus. I thought I would
reinstall Internet Explorer, but the computer won't let
me. HELP!! Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

(fedora.redhat.com).
 
Please enlighten us as to what a "dirty install" is, and the steps that Dell
gave you for achieving it. I would have thought they would have given you
the method of obtaining a clean install.
