Don't do the windows update

Maybe you should start using several anti-malware scanners to check your
system. One common method for a pest to protect itself it to disable or
interfere with Windows Update.

And a lot of us have found that Windows Update works fine with the
exception of that one update. I had several machines, clean, that would
not install it (that specific update), but would install others. The
manual install worked fine as do other Windows Updates via WU.
 
I agree..
The bigggest problem I have noticed is drop-down / pop-up menus don't show
up until you hover over them. It will only show the shadow to start with.
