Dear All

After my experience with Microtek Tech Support people, who is so
deceiving, I recommend people not to buy Microtek Scanner. Their Tech
Support will charge you even though I was entitled to 90 days free
support. I just bought my scanner 1 week ago. Ask them any problem and
they will say it is like that. Normal. They just refused to help me.

Bad scanner & Tech support sucks!

Not only that... ScanWizard is extremely difficult for the
non-professional and they, tech support could not even remove a bluish
tint from a white background on a business letter saying that ScanWizard
was designed that way. Interestingly... other scanning software does not
have the tint.

I ended up dumping Microtek and never even shed a tear... Jim

I also had a sour, 'relationship terminating' experience with MicroTek.
Customer support policies and poor attitude were the issues.

Never again will I have anything to do with them... and find it amazing
they've managed to stay in business this long.

I was also never impressed with the performance of my MicroTek product,
a 'ScanMaker V6USL' legal size scanner... even for the brief period it
was operational.

Still, huh? I bought an ArtixScan 4000t in late 1999 and I will never
buy anything from them again. Absolutely bloody useless.

What exactly happened with everyone's experience with Microtek? I've
never had a problem getting through to them, in fact the wait times
are usually less than a minute. When I do they have been able to
answer my questions and walk me through the initial calibration
process, etc. I know they charge if you have an old product, but most
companies do. Anyone willing to share some stories as to what exactly
happened?

At work we had a salesman who favoured Microtek scanners. I've no percentage
figures, but we had a higher than normal percentage fail during warranty,
and others supplied with dead power supplies, or with the wrong countries
PSU. Other issues have been constant problems with their software working
with the latest OSX. Only the other day we found the latest Microtek
software would not recognise an i900 under OSX 10.3.5, but the supplied
Silverfast did. This customer found Silverfast to complex and wanted to use
Scanwizard, but couldn't. Another instance involved a customer who bought a
basic 5900, and it failed to power on. Microtek support insisted it was
because the drivers on CD were too old for her new Mac, and told her to
download the latest. They wouldn't supply a copy. She was on a dialup, so
couldn't. I downloaded and posted it to her, and as expected, it still
didn't power on. Only then would they send her a new PSU. Personally, I
would have nothing to do with Microtek products. I could go on and on. My
experience is based upon the UK and flatbed scanners only.
