don't access to the network

I use windows 2000 advanced server.recently,My computer only can access to
the network by the form of "\\NetBIOSName",wheares using "\\IP address "
cannot connect to the sharefolder of the compuetr.Why??

Ping the IP address - replies?
Ping the name - sis the ame IP address returned, do you get replies?

Are you using a domain/AD? You may have DNS problems or something else.More
info would help.
