"done, but with Errors on page"

please help!!! I am having major problems dowwloading programs and software.
Internet Explorer 7 will download but only with the message Done, but with
errors on page" also, if i click on the taskbar it gives me the message:
Line: 17 Char: 2 Error: ad Cont [...] resize called' is null or not an
object. Also, I recently spent £70 on Norton 360 and after downloading it,
It would not allow me to install it because it returned the message "File
Corrupt" !!! any help would be much apprecciated...I have been at this for 2
weeks now. Thanks
 
get rid of the old av program first
go back to norton an ask how to git rid of everything

the only av program i had was the windows firewall. i had to re-boot the
system to factory default after a web accellerator ruined everything and then
the problems started with all the windows and microsoft updates especially
KB923789.Nothing seems to have gone right since!! any other
suggestions...running Acer travelmate which is fairly new!!!
