Hello-

I recently installed the Outlook Connector for Lotus Notes (using
Outlook 2003 and Notes 5.0.11). It seems to work well, but I having a
problem in that it seems when I restart Oulook after a shutdown or
reboot, it tries to download the entire Calendar again, then download
all the headers of all the email messages again, even though they were
all synced already. This then causes my Inbox to be updated very
slowly until it's finished going though my calendar and email
messages. Any idea what's happening?

Thanks,
Nick

Nick,

I had the same problem until I ran the Inbox Repair Tool
on my Outlook Connector data file (mine is
named "outlook.nst"). The tool informed me that it found
problems with my file and then repaired it when I told it
to do so. Since then, I haven't seen any unexpected
synchronization activity.

The Inbox Repair Tool is named SCANPST.EXE and is usually
located in this folder:

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033"

where "1033" is the name of your Local Settings folder for
Microsoft Office (varies by country, I think).

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Bill

Hi Bill-

Thanks a lot for your advice. I ran the tool and it also found
errors. I rebooted and started Outlook and it seems like it did the
trick.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Use scanpst with caution !!!

I followed the steps indicated on previous messages and ended up into big troubles !!!
After running scanpst.exe it duplicated all my email messages on all folders and still kept downloading all headers, calendar entries and entire messages.
Also it corrupted the database on the domino ( lotus ) server.
The smart I.T. administrator of my company restored my lotus database from a copy which was one month old.
I restored the file outlook.bak created by scanpst.exe.
Now, I have lost for ever all messages from last month to today.
And still every time I connect all message headers are dowloaded.
I suggest if you need to restore the oultlook.bak file keep another copy of this file just in case something goes wrong.
