Domains and trusts

I work at a college where where we are transferring from
novell to active directory. Some of the departments
already have a windows domain AD. Question is what do we
need to do to give those departments the ability to have
all the functionality of our Exchange server and file
sharing login etc..

Also I set up a 2 trust with one of those departments and
our roaming profiles will not come acroos when we login to
the other departments computers

What is the best way to resolve these issues

So you site at a Domain2 machine and logon to
a Domain1 user account, right?

Should work IF you get authenticated but if that
didn't happen you shouldn't get logged on, right?
