Domain Trust

Hello,

I have created two domains "x.domain.com" and "y.domain.com". I have done
this without creating the domain "domain.com". In doing this, I cannot form a
forest trust. Is there any solution I can use to rectify this without
creating an AD machine for "domain.com"?

on the DNS server(s) of x.domain.com configure a forwarder for
y.domain.com
on the DNS server(s) of y.domain.com configure a forwarder for
x.domain.com
 
I can create an External trust using this method, but my ideal situation is
to create a tree-root two-way transitive trust. Is this possible?
