Has Microsoft come up with an easy way to remove a computer from the domain
but then still be able to use the same domain profile? I need to make sure
to keep all the current settings including items in protected storage like
ceritifcates, etc... The profile is stored on the client computer so I
would think there should be an easy way.

Thanks.

Not sure on the certificates...
Those usually depend on passwords and SIDs...
However... They can be exported as well.

F.A.S.T. Wizard - export the profiles Files and Settings.
Create a new account for said user - local account.
Remove system from the domain.
Log into the system as the new account created.
Use the F.A.S.T. wizard to import the Files and Settings.

Not sure why there would be a *method* to doing this (ie: removing a
computer from a domain but allowing the domain profiles to continue using
the machine..)

Another way that comes to mind is to create a local account..
Give that account full permissions on the domain accounts profile directory.
Reboot and log on as another admin user and change the ProfileList for that
new account so that its profile points to the directory of the domain
profile.
Log off and log on locally as that user. You will notice it is the same
setup/etc as the domain profile (because they actually utilize the same
profile.)
When you remove the system from the domain, you can still use the local
account that uses the same profile as the domain account did.
