If I inherited / manage a domain called abc.com, how would
I tell if there are other domains above this ? It sounds
dumb but for some reason I apply polices to the domain and
the next day the clients lose that policy. Could it be
that the local client policy is overiding it ? I thougt
the order was Local, Site, Domain, OU ? The highest level
I see on my DC is Domain level, where would I find site ?
Thanks

Site policies are applied using Active Directory Sites and Services.
If the domain is called abc.com then it would be the parent domain
with no one above it.

You are correct that policies are applied in the L,S,D,OU order. To
clarify whether the clients are actually processing a policy run
gpresult and see exactly which policies are being applied. It may be
that the settings you are making are not being replicated to other
domain controllers and possibly being overwritten by policies from
other domain controllers.
