I'm now running DNS on my server pointing all the clients to it.

I have now got a problem that not even the administrator can view the
Microsoft Windows Network.
I get to the part where it shows me the domain I'm on but if I try and click
the domain icon I can't get a listing of all the pc on the network. I need
to map network drives and so on.
Can anyone help me with this?

Did you perhaps disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP on any/all servers/workstations?
It's required for browsing.

Nope they are all still set to enable that setting.
The new PC I have just put together dose not work nor do any of the other pc
that I have here.

Network Places relies on NetBIOS over TCP/IP which can be enabled on the
WINS tab.
Of course if you are mapping to FQDN, which is my preferred method then you
don't need NetBIOS but you need the servers IP registered in DNS.
Try connecting to the server with FQDN i.e. \\server.domain.com this will
display all the shares on the server and they can be mapped from there.

Ok that did it, but why did that change from befor I ran the DNS
server?
I'm not exactly sure what you are asking here, but if you are trying to map
drives in Network Places, it requires NetBIOS broadcasts, which has
_nothing_ to do with DNS.

If you run netdiag /v from the server it will test NetBIOS

The qustion is that,

Before I set up the DNS server if I looked at "My Network Places" then I
could see all the PC's on that domain. Now I get an error message saying
that I don't have permission to view the domain, and that's being loged in
as admin.

DNS shouldn't cause this, DNS has nothing to do with Network Places, other
than the "Directory" icon which was removed from XP.
As per my previous post run netdiag /v which will test NetBIOS resolution.
