hi there, i have just incorrectly set up my windows 2000
machine to be part of a domain, i was trying to set up as
part of a workgroup, i have now been locked out as i
think it has created a default passwor for the
administrator.

does any one know how to get past the domain logon so as
i can alter the settings.

Are you sure don't mean that you changed it from a domain to a workgroup?
The only way you can join a workstation to a domain is if you know the
username and password of a domain privileged account and you are on the same
network as a domain controller. If you know the domain privileged account
then you can log in using that account.

My guess is that you changed it from a domain to a workgroup and it is
indeed in workgroup mode. The problem now is that the username and password
that used to work no longer works. That is because the username and password
was a domain username and password. Now that it no longer belongs to the
domain the domain user account no longer exists on your workstation, thus
you can not use it to login in.

There is only one thing you can do, take it back to work and have an IT
admin add it back to the domain.
