I have a domain and workstation on a DSL line. Problem is when a user logs
into the domain access takes minutes to any function. However, if they
login to their computer and attach to a drive on the domain everything works
fast.

Dop I need any configuration on workstation? Domain computer?

Should DNS IP on workstations be the IP of the domain computer?

Thanks,
Raul Rego

Hi there,
Should DNS IP on workstations be the IP of the domain computer?

yepp, you must be type the DC as one and only DNS-Server
in the TCP/IP-Settings from the Client.

OK but where do I now enter the DNS numbers from the DSL? I need this in
order to go out to the web.

Do I enter these number on the DC? If so, where.

Thanks a milliom.

PS I was stationed in Wildflicken Germany in the us Army in 1977 and have
been to Mainz.

You may enter them on the Forwarders tab of the DNS server properties shee
in the DNS Management Console.

Actually, you shouldn't need them as forwarders, which are optional.
However, if you find the Forwarders tab is disabled and you cannot enter
them as forwarders, open Forward Lookup Zones in the DNS Console and delete
the Forward lookup zone that is named with a ".", this will enable root
hints and give you internet access. Then you can either add them as
forwarders, or not enter them as forwarders, if you want.

No, the DC, as with all Domain members, should point to the DC's internal IP
address for DNS, only.
